Columbus Pretty Pumpkin gives you a Thanksgiving decoration to use for years to come. It’s a hand-painted ceramic pumpkin filled with fall flowers in rustic colors. Somethin Pumpkin uses the same keepsake ceramic pumpkin and fills it with fall flowers in a different floral style and color palate.

Nature’s Landscape is a Thanksgiving centerpiece to use for a large larger table. It comes in a wooden box that is filled with fall flowers, such as wild sunflowers, roses, rust-colored calla lilies, snapdragons, anemones, and hydrangea.

Clintonville Wonder is an oversized flower arrangement that contains roses and spray roses, alstroemeria, daisies, hypericum and more. These flowers are arranged in a glass vase that has been wrapped with a satin ribbon.f6

Creating Custom Thanksgiving Centerpieces with Our Design Center

Thanksgiving is getting closer. In fact, it’s Thursday, November 23rd. While it’s fast approaching, there is still time to do something extra special during this traditional family celebration. Rather than just ordering a Thanksgiving centerpiece, why not work with our design center at our Columbus flower shops on a custom Thanksgiving centerpiece as well as custom flower arrangements for the home and buffet table?

Our Thanksgiving collection does have some beautiful floral designs f5that will add a special touch to your holiday plans. However, even more memorable is to create something no one else will have and that defines your home and family traditions. In fact, your custom Thanksgiving centerpiece can use a container and personal elements that you can include. For example, you may have a family vase or large bowl that could add something memorable to the display.

When you create a custom Thanksgiving centerpiece, there really is no parameters on what you can make except your own imagination. Think about what styles you like. Do you have a house that is bit more country and rustic, formal and traditional, or modern? Use this as your inspiration. Then, there are favorite flowers and colors. f3

What type of accents do you like that represent the fall season? You can include oak leaves, acorns, gourds (small ones and larger ones like pumpkins), turkeys, branches, and wheat.

f6Table size and shape is also important to think about. You don’t want the centerpiece to take up the whole table and block viewing. However, you don’t want your Thanksgiving centerpiece to be small or the wrong shape so that it takes away from the ambiance. Create one that is a similar shape of your table and is balanced in size and scope. Be sure to give our floral design team the dimensions of the table.

All these factors are important to figure out before you come in and work with our floral design team. They can come up with a design idea much more quickly and be inspired to do exactly what you are imagining. f4

Now is the time to make your appointment for that custom Thanksgiving centerpiece as well as other custom flower arrangements that can be added throughout the house, including the mantle, stairs, door and other tables. All of these floral displays for Thanksgiving will welcome your guests and create a very festive spirit.

Thanksgiving Flowers and Centerpieces Enhance the Family Experience

This is where you get to spend great times with family and friends, sharing what you are grateful for. We are grateful for our customers so we want to help all of you get ready for Thanksgiving.

Our collection for Thanksgiving includes flower arrangements, bouquets, and centerpieces that you can pick-up or have delivered throughout the Columbus area. We also can send flowers on your behalf anywhere in the country if you can’t be together this Thanksgiving. Here are some ideas for decor, the table, and gift giving this Thanksgiving:f1

First, we have many types of centerpieces for Thanksgiving.

The Family Gatherings Centerpiece has two orange taper candles surrounded by fall flowers. Then, the Harvest Happiness Centerpiece provides a stunning array of fall flowers, greenery, and accents. Autumn Expressions includes Fuji mums, miniature roses, carnations, daisies and fall leaves. Harvest Glow has fuji mums, carnations, daisies and miniature roses. Finally, Nature’s Landscape, which is made for larger tables, comes in a wooden box and contains sunflowers, roses, calla lilies, snapdragons, anemones, and hydrangea.

Many of our Thanksgiving items make great gifts for local Thanksgiving celebrations here in Columbus. Those items for local delivery include the Pumpkin Spice Cupcake. This delight is made locally by Just A Little Treat. It is a spiced pumpkin cake that has been topped with cinnamon pumpkin buttercream frosting and a dusting of raw sugar.f2

Then, there is Cheryl’s Cookies, another delicious local brand. They offer Pumpkins and Leaves Cutout Cookies. You’ll get one dozen individually wrapped buttercream frosted leaf and pumpkin cut-out cookies that come in a fall colored gift bag.

While this looks good enough to eat, you won’t want to. Instead, light this Apple Pie Candle to create a comforting feeling for a chilly Thanksgiving Day. The hand-poured candle is made by Beaver Creek Candle Company in Lisbon, Ohio It’s a 9″ pie that arrives packaged in an actual clear pie box. It also smells like it just came from the oven.

Remember that you can order for Thanksgiving today so you can check that task right off your long to-do list! Come into our Columbus flower shops, call us, or go online right now!

Thanksgiving Day Events In and Around Columbus

f3Thanksgiving is more than family and friends, food, and football. There are a growing number of family-centered events that now occur each year in and around the Columbus area. Here are a couple events that are our favorites and that we like to participate in.

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

The first is the Chase Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot, a 25-year old tradition for the whole family that is hosted by Whole Foods Market Upper Arlington at the Shops on Lane Avenue. The proceeds from the event benefit Easter Seals and the Make First Five Count Program.f1

Runners World Magazine even has selected this as the best Hometown Favorite Race. The race course takes the participants past many landmarks in and around Ohio State University.

There is a five-mile race and a 2.5 mile-“Walk N Talk” race. All finishers get a medal while the top finishers also get a fresh pumpkin pie from Whole Foods. All participants also get a swag bag with a shirt, goody bag, and ticket for a finish line snack and drink.

There is also an event for the kids called the McDonald’s Tot Trot, which is a 100-yard dash. Each child that participates in this free event gets a t-shirt, ribbon, and treat.f2

Thousands of participants join the races each year, and it’s a great way to work up a big appetite for that delicious meal later in the day while participants and volunteers can cheer on all the runners and walkers.

Thanksgiving Wattle

The other big event is the Thanksgiving Wattle in Grove City. This is the third time the morning 5K run has been hosted by the city and it grows each year in popularity and support.

Over 50% of the event profits and 100% of all donations goes through the charities that the run supports, including the Grove City Food Pantry, which serves nearly 8,500 people each year with food. Last year, the second Thanksgiving Wattle collected over 3,000 pounds of food and $4,500 in monetary contributions that went directly to the Grove City Food Pantry.f1

Each year, the amount of food and money grows, so we are looking forward to another great year of bringing the community together, having fun, and helping those local citizens in need.

Decorating Tips for Thanksgiving

There are many ways to decorate the home for Thanksgiving:f3

  • Participate in a new trend of tablescapes that create a floral display across the entire table.
  • Include candles to add a warm glow during this often chilly holiday season.
  • Create individual floral displays at each place setting for a more intimate feel to the Thanksgiving table. This also makes a great gift for each guest to take home.f4
